Functional Medicine in Fort Myers, FL

Normal labs. Real symptoms. That gap is where we start.

A physician-led program that finds what's actually driving your fatigue, weight, or hormonal symptoms — starting with lab testing most primary care doctors never order, and continuing as an ongoing protocol Dr. Flávio, DNP, AACC designs and manages with you.

Functional medicine in Fort Myers means treating the root cause of your symptoms — not managing each one separately with a prescription.

At Solace, that starts with a real conversation about your history and symptoms, moves into advanced lab testing most primary care doctors don't order, and becomes an ongoing, physician-led protocol Dr. Flávio, DNP, AACC personally builds and adjusts with you. It isn't a test you buy once — it's a relationship with a provider who keeps working the problem until you feel like yourself again. Because every case is different, we don't publish flat pricing; call our concierge line and our team will walk you through what your first visit looks like and what it costs.

What's Different

Beyond normal — into optimal

Standard medicine asks: "Is this within reference range?" Functional medicine asks: "Is this optimal for you?" The reference range used by your primary care doctor was built from a population that includes people with subclinical illness. Being "normal" by that standard often means being mildly dysfunctional.

Solace's functional medicine lab approach interprets every marker against optimal ranges — the values associated with vitality, longevity, and feeling your best. A TSH of 4.0 mIU/L is "normal" by conventional medicine. By functional medicine, it's borderline hypothyroid. A vitamin D of 32 ng/mL is "sufficient." Functional medicine wants 60-80. Those gaps explain why so many patients feel "off" while their labs come back "fine."

The Testing Behind the Protocol

Not a menu — a workup built for your case

You don't pick panels off a list. During your consultation, Dr. Flávio reviews your symptoms and medical history, then selects the lab panel that actually applies to your case. Below are some of the panels available, and what each one is built to catch.

Sex hormones (estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S), thyroid (TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3, antibodies), cortisol rhythm, prolactin, sex hormone binding globulin. Foundation panel for hormone optimization, perimenopause, andropause, low libido, and unexplained fatigue.

Fasting insulin, glucose, A1C, advanced lipids (LDL particle number, ApoB, Lp(a)), homocysteine, hs-CRP, ferritin, liver enzymes. Reveals insulin resistance, cardiovascular risk, and metabolic dysfunction years before standard cholesterol panels flag a problem.

The gold standard in gut testing. PCR-based stool analysis for pathogens, opportunistic bacteria, dysbiosis, candida, parasites, H. pylori, secretory IgA, beta-glucuronidase, and intestinal health markers. Often the missing piece behind brain fog, bloating, autoimmune conditions, and stubborn skin issues.

hs-CRP, ESR, ANA, homocysteine, fibrinogen, IgG/IgM/IgA autoantibodies, anti-thyroid antibodies. Targets the chronic low-grade inflammation that drives aging, joint pain, autoimmune flare-ups, and "I'm tired all the time" syndrome.

Intracellular measurement of vitamins (A, B complex, C, D, E, K), minerals (magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper), antioxidants (glutathione, CoQ10), amino acids, fatty acid balance, and oxidative stress markers. The most accurate nutrient testing available.

The recommended starting point for patients with complex, multi-system symptoms — chronic fatigue, unexplained weight changes, and hormonal disruption all at once — or anyone serious about longevity optimization from day one. Includes an extended 90-minute results review with Dr. Flávio.

The Process

From symptoms to protocol

Initial Consultation (60 min)

You meet with Dr. Flávio in person or via secure telehealth. He reviews your full health history, current symptoms, medications, family history, and goals. Together you select the lab panels most relevant to your case.

Sample Collection

Blood draw at our Fort Myers location, or at-home collection kits for stool/saliva panels. We use a phlebotomist trained in functional medicine collection protocols (fasting status, timing, transport requirements).

Lab Processing (7-21 days)

Samples go to specialty labs — Genova Diagnostics, Diagnostic Solutions, Quest Functional, ZRT. These labs run tests not available through standard hospital labs.

Results Review (60 min)

Dr. Flávio personally walks you through every marker, what it means, what's optimal vs. what's normal, and how it connects to your symptoms. You leave with a written summary and a clear protocol.

Personalized Protocol

Targeted supplement recommendations (only what your labs show you need — no kitchen-sink protocols), nutrition and lifestyle modifications, and a retest schedule (typically 3-6 months) to track progress.

Ongoing Monitoring

Most patients retest 1-2 markers every 3 months and the full panel annually. Your protocol evolves as your biology improves.

Before & After Your Functional Medicine Consultation

▣ Before Your Visit

  • Complete your health intake form so Dr. Flávio can review your history before you sit down together
  • Bring a list of current medications, supplements, and any recent lab work from other providers
  • Write down your symptoms as specifically as you can — when they started, what makes them better or worse
  • If labs are ordered same-day, fasting panels require water only for 8–12 hours beforehand
  • Call our concierge line beforehand if you have questions about what to expect

▣ After Your Visit

  • Your results review consultation is scheduled once labs are back — typically 7–21 days
  • Dr. Flávio walks you through every marker and the protocol built specifically from your results
  • Follow the protocol as designed — call before adjusting anything on your own
  • Log any changes in symptoms between now and your next visit
  • Retesting is typically scheduled at 3–6 months to confirm the protocol is working

Frequently Asked

Functional medicine labs in Fort Myers — common questions

Functional medicine lab testing goes beyond standard reference ranges to identify subtle imbalances in hormones, metabolism, inflammation, gut health, and nutrients. The same blood test may be "normal" to a conventional doctor but reveal real dysfunction when interpreted through a functional lens — the gap between "normal" and "optimal."
Cost depends on which panels and protocol elements your case calls for — we don't publish flat pricing because functional medicine isn't a one-size package. Call our concierge line at (239) 323-9549 and our team will walk you through cost before you book anything.
Some basic labs (CBC, lipid panel) bill through insurance. Advanced functional panels are typically self-pay. We provide superbills for FSA/HSA reimbursement. Call our concierge line and we'll walk you through what to expect for your specific case.
Dr. Flávio, DNP, AACC personally reviews and interprets every panel. He completed his Functional Medicine fellowship and earned his Associate designation from the American College of Cardiology. Every patient receives a 60-minute results review consultation.
Most blood panels: 7-10 business days. Specialty panels: 10-21 business days. Once results arrive, we schedule your review within 1 week.
No referral required. Solace operates as a private functional medicine practice. You schedule a consultation, Dr. Flávio recommends panels based on your symptoms, and we order them directly.
Blood draws happen on-site during your visit. Specialty testing involves at-home collection kits we ship to you.
Initial comprehensive lab panels are retested at 3–6 months to track progress and adjust protocols. Annual retesting is the standard maintenance cadence once baseline optimization is achieved. Specific markers (like thyroid, hormones) may be retested more frequently when dose-adjusting.
Ongoing care. The lab panel is where a functional medicine relationship starts, not where it ends. Dr. Flávio builds your protocol from the results, adjusts it as your biology changes, and retests at intervals to confirm it's working — most patients stay under his care for months to years, not a single visit.

What Comes Next

Labs are the starting point — not the finish line

Once your panel results are back, Dr. Flávio designs the protocol that follows from them. Two paths are common: individualized hormone therapy when your hormone panel shows imbalance, and IV nutrient therapy when your micronutrient panel shows deficiencies your body needs replenished faster than oral supplements allow.
